Dr. Cagatay Goncu has been working as a research fellow at Monash University since January 2012. At the moment, his research focus is on presenting graphics to visually impaired people.

He started his PhD studies at Monash University on July 2007 and graduated on October 2012. During his PhD, he investigated how to present graphics to visually impaired people and developed a novel user interface with his supervisors Prof. Kim Marriott and Assoc. Prof. John Hurst. This work was published in his PhD thesis, entitled as "GraVVITAS: Accessible Graphics for Visually Impaired People". He also worked as a research assistant at the Clayton School of IT, Monash University during that time.

Dr. Goncu holds a BSc degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Hacettepe University, Turkey and MSc degree in Software Engineering/Management from Middle East Technical University, Turkey. During his masters he also worked as a software engineer in ESRI, Turkey, specialised in geographic information systems, and as a teaching assistant at Middle East Technical University.
