Associate Professor Richard Cox has a background is in psychology, education, and AI in education. He obtained his PhD in A.I. from the University of Edinburgh and he is a Chartered Psychologist (British Psychological Society).
Dr Cox co-authored a major UK report on technology-enhanced learning "System Upgrade: Realising the vision for UK education" (2012) and has served as an Expert Advisor to European Commission technology in education projects. From 1999 to 2016 Dr Cox led the PATSy project, a widely-used online multimedia interactive database of virtual patient cases for students and researchers in the clinical sciences.
Currently, he is an international affiliate of the Openproof logic education software project at Stanford and an Honorary Fellow of the School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh. He also acts as a consultant to the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) for a new VCE Higher Education Scored Study called "Algorithmics".
